Okay people, we've reached a new level of creepy that seriously should be studied. Brad Pitt was paid $7 MILLION DOLLARS to utter exactly 40 words. That's $175,000 a word. Obviously Chanel No. 5 just wanted an easy, round, number to throw at their CFO. But money isn't the issue here (well, it's sort of the issue, the fact that he got paid so much to make something so awful and unemployment continues to be a huge issue in the country but this isn't a political blog, and now I'm rambling).
These are the sweet, nonsensical nothings he was paid so much to literally whisper at us:
"It's not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. Chanel No.5. Inevitable."
What kind of upper echelon mind f*ck is Chanel trying to get away with here? Can only people with a Ph.D in Philosophy and propensity to ingest hallucinogens makes sense of this crap (in which case casting Brad Pitt was perfect!)? Is this some sort of code? Was the script written by Lindsay Lohan during one of her 7-day benders?
I kind of want to send this ad to my alma mater's advertising department and have some over-eager undergrad spend 20-pages trying to dissect the meaning and intent behind 40 words and Brad Pitt's facial expressions.
