Usain Bolt and Pokemon are together and it feels so good.
Starring in a commercial for Pokemon: Sun and Moon, Pikachu and a cosplaying Bolt teamed up for a fun, fast-paced Japanese advertisement for the popular trading card/video game company.

Dressed in Team Skull garb, Bolt gives his all in the spot.
The eight-time gold medalist emulates in-game trainers, announcing “even in a Pokemon battle, I’m number one.” He even pulls off his signature celebrating, pointing to the sky with Pikachu and two fellow Team Skull trainers.
In a second spot, Bolt plays adversary. Looking into the camera with trainers and Pikachu by his side, he admits to being up for a challenge, saying “Yo, we meet again. Don’t think you can run away.”
No shocker (pun!) here, Bolt is the perfect spokesperson for Pokemon. Like the in-game creatures, Bolt’s abilities make him tough to be in any battle. Not to mention, his name is a pun on multiple different moves, such as thunderbolt, bolt strike, fusion bolt and shadow bolt.
Admittedly, there’s not much to the ads. Heck, it’s not even an Awful Advertisement. It’s a very good advertisement. But, after dealing with so many stinkers over the past couple months, showcasing an ad featuring Pokemon and Bolt was a no-brainer.
I’d pay to see Bolt put his Pokemon skills to the test. Who knows? Perhaps, now his running career has wrapped, he’ll become a full-fledged Pokemon trainer.
