Awful Classics: Zack the LEGO Maniac

Once upon a time the good folks at LEGO decided they needed a mascot. A giant talking brick, perhaps? No, just a kid that really loves LEGO. Cue the LEGO Maniac, otherwise known as Zack the LEGO Maniac. For a stretch of time in the '80s and '90s, Zack the LEGO Maniac was the ultimate LEGO fanatic.

Since we're talking about the '80s and '90s, you know there's going to be a cheesy theme song. You won't be disappointed.

Check out the fashion. Those glasses might be more in style now than they were back when this commercial aired. And that room. The neon sign and the colors of that room are straight out of a former decade.

The LEGO Maniac was played by three different actors over the years. Despite the crazy similarities with the actor above, the kid from Blank Check (Brian Bonsall) was never a LEGO Maniac. The last LEGO Maniac ad ran in 1994.
