Amazing Star Wars Battlefront trailer features Anna Kendrick

Star Wars mania is back.

With the seventh installment of the Star Wars film series, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, coming in December, we’re seeing all types of merchandise coming from the iconic series. Probably the biggest thing from the universe outside the movie is the upcoming Star: Wars Battle Front video game, the sequel to 2009’s Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron. The game comes out Nov. 17th, and Electronic Arts released a new trailer which should have fans very hyped.

In the two-minute spot titled “Become More Powerful,” we’re shown people experiencing their everyday life. A woman is shown closing a store, and suddenly disappearing. Same for when a friend high-fives a buddy. Or when another man sees his boss go home for the day.  Or when two men look at each other on the subway.

The biggest example of the vanishing’s is when Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) is at her place cutting a sandwich. She looks at her butterknife and holds it like a lightsaber and repeats Obi-Wan Kenobi’s famous line from Star Wars Episode IV: New Hope “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine,” then disappears, reappearing in the video game.

The disappearance is reminiscent of Obi-Wan’s death in Episode IV. The departures in this ad signify something else entirely – the immersion of a player in the game going into the battlefield. It’s epic. The ad is saying once you play Battlefront, you’re merging yourself in the Star Wars universe.

I’m all aboard the hype train on this one. Getting Anna Kendrick to do the spot only furthers my hopes they cast her in one of the upcoming movies because she’s a damn talented actress. Either way, I’ll settle for this spot.
