Arnold Schwarzenegger can be the voice of your GPS after striking deal with Waze

Terminator: Genisys, the fifth installment of the Terminator franchise, is coming to theaters soon (June 25th to be exact) and the film’s big star Arnold Schwarzenegger is lending his iconic voice to the GPS navigation company Waze.

The feature they’re promoting, which will be around for the next three weeks, will allow drivers to use Arnold’s iconic voice when using their GPS system. Not only will his voice be usable, but he’ll be saying his iconic lines. On top of that the feature will warn drivers if T-1000’s are ahead, and after Terminator: Genisys opens, red-eyed Endoskulls will appear on screen indicating where nearby theaters are.

That’s pretty cool. Here’s a tease.

The Austrian star on partnering with Waze.

“From the first time I used Waze, I have wanted to lend my voice to it. The Terminator is the perfect machine to guide Wazers to their destinations,” said Schwarzenegger. “Every single day on social media fans ask me to record my movie lines, so now I get to bring this classic role and my charming Austrian accent into their cars.”

Here’s Megan Wahtera, SVP of Interactive Marketing at Paramount Pictures, on the agreement.

“Partnering with Waze is a fun way to bring the ‘Terminator’ to millions of fans all over the world.”

“Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator is one of the most recognizable and iconic voices and we are excited for fans to experience him in this unique way.”

While those are both fancy ways of saying ‘Waze paid us a shitload of money,’ it’s definitely an awesome new feature for those with the service. Who wouldn’t want Arnold giving them instructions? For Terminator fans, it’s potentially a dream come true.

While I’m not particularly excited for the film, this is really smart marketing.

Terminator: Genisys stars Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke and is directed by Alan Taylor.
