We’re historically critical of the music which appears in advertisements. The overarching rule is that music in ads shouldn’t be the focal point and the moment it is, the ad usually falls into the annoying category. That’s not always true, but we have so many examples which support our little rule that we’re just going to run with it.
Our latest example comes from McDonald’s. Though McDonald’s didn’t make the song for their new lemonade ad personally, they’re still on the hook for this annoying spot. You’ll never be able to guess the lyrics.

Yes, this is an actual song. It’s titled (wait for it) “Lemonade” by Sophie. If you didn’t get your fill of this song in 30 seconds, here are the lyrics:
lemonade, l-l-lemonade (lemonade, l-l-lemonade)
lemonade, l-l-lemonade (lemonade, l-l-lemonade)
I got something to tell you
hope you’ll understand
I never meant to hurt you
it wasn’t in my plans
just know when I’m with you
everythings okay
I get that thirsty feeling
and I want lemonade
lemonade, l-l-lemonade (lemonade, l-l-lemonade)
candy boys, c-c-candy boys (lemonade, l-l-lemonade)
candy boys, c-c-candy boys
lemonade, l-l-lemonade (lemonade, l-l-lemonade)
candy boys, c-c-candy boys
candy boys, c-c-candy boys
lemonade, l-l-lemonade (lemonade, l-l-lemonade)
candy boys, c-c-candy boys
I got something to tell you
hope you’ll understand
I never meant to hurt you
it wasn’t in my plans
just know when I’m with you
everythings okay
I get that thirsty feeling
and I want lemonade
Based on the social media reaction, some believe this song might even be suggestive. That may be a stretch, but the song is definitely annoying and painful to hear each time this silly McDonald’s spot pops on TV.
