Amazon has launched a totally new original product with their first official advertisement for the new Amazon Dash. This version of Amazon Dash differs from their previous variation of the product, which was aimed towards Amazon Fresh. That version was voice activated and could scan barcodes. This version of Amazon Dash is a small plastic button that you can stick wherever you want, that when you press auto-orders whatever the Amazon Dash is branded towards, and creates an instant order to your Amazon account. Essentially the idea is you press the button when you need things such as Coffee, Detergent or other household items and boom, it shows up at your door.
The need for such a product isn’t overwhelming considering it’s not really solving a problem, I mean do we really need to stick branded logos all over our houses so we can order something from Amazon? Is it really that difficult? Despite fishy timing, this is not an April Fool’s joke.
The service is an Amazon Prime exclusive. Here’s Amazon’s official description.
Keep Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store your favorite products. When you’re running low, simply press Dash Button and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites at the same low prices offered on Amazon.com, so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store.
So, in summary, instead of using your laptop or your mobile device to easily order something you need – which really isn’t hard nor time consuming – Amazon wants you to stick these little buttons all around your house. While I admit there is a slight – and I mean slight – convenience with Amazon Dash, this invention is just an easier way to for you to buy Amazon products – so kudos to them. Time to see if people get on board, as the free service is now accepting invitations. Will you be singing up for Amazon Dash?
