As a member of the Internet, I understand that page views, clicks, and ‘likes’ are what fuel web-based advertising sales, however I don’t think about it often. For those whose full time job is creating content and running a website, getting those clicks and such can keep them awake at night.

Nostalgia is a wildly popular thing in advertising these days. Do you know what I’m not ready for? YouTube nostalgia. Delta feels differently about that, as they’ve made a safety video featuring a bunch of memes and YouTube phenomenons. Appearing in order are Keyboard Cat, Double Rainbow Guy, Annoying Orange, Roomba Cat, Rahat’s Prank, Evolution of Dance, Slow Mo Guy, Harlem Shake, Deltalina, Screaming Goat, Internet Browser, Peanut […]

Payless ShoeSource has a deal so good that they can’t help but yell. Actually, that’s not true. They took things one annoying step further and decided that the best way to discuss their 1/2 off sandals is by yelling through a megaphone. There are some simple rules advertisers should never break: 1. Don’t bother singing […]

I’ve talked about fast food restaurants needlessly reviving dated characters in hopes of making them modern. It seems to be a huge trend in advertising. If they can reboot a movie, why can’t they reboot a commercial? McDonald’s inexplicably brought back the Hamburglar this month with a series of bad advertisements that put a damper […]

In the liquor industry, getting your name out there is the best way to make your brand succeed. There are so many competitors for shelf space that some companies will do whatever it takes to set themselves apart. Even Justin Timberlake’s tequila, Sauza 901, had to go all out to separate themselves from the pack. […]

Mercedes-Benz must have a serious sponsorship deal with the upcoming Jurrasic Park installment Jurassic World because they’re about to be featured heavily in it. They’ve released a series of promotional photos and videos, which really try hard to connect the car to the Jurassic universe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=50&v=F9H1Gwl05vk Producer Frank Marshall really give it his all to […]

I noticed a commercial for Lego’s “Bionicle” sets when my nephew was watching TV the other day, and it brought back memories of my own childhood obsession with them. It got me thinking about Bionicle’s introduction (in 2001, which seems like a long, long time ago now…), and just how well-done it was: Commercials for […]

It’s been mentioned a ton on this site before, but nostalgia in advertising is currently what’s hot. McDonald’s has jumped on this trend by reintroducing a character that’s long been a part of their history – of course I’m talking about The Hamburglar. The Hamburglar initially appeared in 1971 as part of McDonald’s Mcdonaldland community. […]

Saturday Night Live has produced a bevy of films. Some of them were successful such as Wayne’s World, Superstar, & The Blues Brothers, others such as It’s Pat, Stuart Saves His Family and The Ladies Man, not so much. Somewhere in the middle is the film Coneheads. The film is somewhat of a cult classic. The movie based off the much […]

Have you ever watched an advertisement thinking it’s completely normal, when all the sudden you’re floored by something ridiculous that happens suddenly? Well if so, we’ve got a special treat for you. Flex Seal Colors, a product that paints and seals simultaneously, released this crazy advertisement. After a fairly vanilla start, about 45 seconds in […]

According to Fortune, Burger King paid Floyd Mayweather $1 million dollars to have BK’s mascot, The King, appear in the boxer’s entourage. I am fully aware that by writing this I am assisting Burger King’s goal to cause a stir on the Internet and falling, so perhaps I can take a different direction than the […]

GEICO makes funny commercials – it’s what it does. So it makes sense that a decade after starting main stream advertising they have no trouble finding a new slogan and a few funny commercials to go along with it. From “It’s So Simple a Caveman Could Do It” to its current “It’s What You Do,” […]

Bud Light has found themselves in a bit of hot water over with their latest #UpForWatever campaign. Their brand of Anheuser-Busch beer was printed with the line, “The perfect beer for removing ‘No’ from your vocabulary for the night,” which can easily be interpreted to being about the blurred lines of rape. That’s not exactly something a company wants to […]

It’s really happening! Six years in the making Pacquiao and Mayweather are finally fighting. Pacquiao might be too old to win, but he can still cash in on that sweet, sweet guaranteed fight payout of $60 million.
